Apple is trying to revolutionize the way you type with their newly filed patent application titled “Static Pattern Electrostatic Haptic Electrodes”. The patent describes a touchscreen keyboard providing the nostalgic feel of typing on a mechanical keyboard that we use today. The described keyboard consists of haptic feedback sensors, which are activated through vibrations and provide electrostatic charges to provide a similar feeling as close to the real thing. This technology is named “Electrostatic Haptic Electrodes” by Apple and is designed to provide a particular voltage charge to differentiate between keys, which makes the typing easy without even looking at the keyboard.
Unfortunately, this feature is currently for Apple iPad keyboards only, but if it works Apple may bring this technology to their various devices.
